CCN Health Partners with Xandar Kardian for Contactless RPM
LOS ANGELES, CA — June 12, 2024 — CCN Health today announced a partnership with Xandar Kardian, a provider of contactless vital sign monitoring technology based on 60GHz radar. The partnership brings Xandar Kardian's radar-based sensors into CCN Health's device ecosystem, enabling remote patient monitoring for populations where traditional wearable devices present compliance challenges.
How Contactless Monitoring Works
Xandar Kardian's sensors use 60GHz millimeter-wave radar to detect physiological signals without any physical contact with the patient. Mounted in a room, the sensor captures micro-movements of the chest wall to measure respiration rate and heart rate, while simultaneously tracking macro-movements to determine presence, sleep status, and activity patterns.
Because the technology requires no wearables, no button presses, and no patient interaction, it is particularly suited for residents who cannot or will not engage with traditional monitoring devices. The sensor operates continuously, streaming data to the CCN Health platform where it is processed alongside readings from the broader device portfolio.
Memory Care and Senior Living Use Cases
Memory care represents one of the most challenging environments for remote patient monitoring. Residents with moderate to advanced dementia frequently remove wearable devices, cannot operate connected equipment, and are unable to self-report symptoms. Contactless monitoring eliminates these barriers entirely by capturing vital sign data passively from the room environment.
In assisted living and independent living settings, the technology provides an additional monitoring layer for residents who are compliant with traditional devices but benefit from continuous overnight monitoring. Sleep quality data, nocturnal respiration trends, and bed presence patterns offer clinical insights that periodic daytime readings alone cannot provide.
Complementing the Device Portfolio
The Xandar Kardian integration adds contactless monitoring to CCN Health's existing device ecosystem, which includes cellular-connected blood pressure monitors, weight scales, glucose meters, continuous glucose monitors, and pulse oximeters. Data from all device types flows into the same clinical dashboard, giving care teams a unified view of each patient's physiological status.
"Contactless monitoring solves a problem that has limited RPM adoption in memory care since the programs began," said Cosmo Cochrane, Co-Founder of CCN Health. "With Xandar Kardian's radar technology, we can now monitor the patients who need it most but were previously unreachable with wearable devices."
Availability
Contactless monitoring via Xandar Kardian sensors is available now to CCN Health partners operating in senior living, memory care, and skilled nursing settings.
