CCN Health Launches Dedicated Night Monitoring for Senior Living Communities
LOS ANGELES, CA — April 9, 2025 — CCN Health today announced the launch of dedicated night monitoring capabilities for senior living communities. The system uses contactless radar sensors mounted near the resident's bed to continuously track overnight vital signs and movement patterns without requiring wearable devices that can disrupt sleep or be removed by residents with cognitive impairment.
Contactless Radar Technology for Overnight Coverage
The night monitoring system uses millimeter-wave radar sensors that detect micro-movements through bedding and clothing. The technology captures breathing rate and patterns, sleep stage transitions, bed exit events, and restlessness indicators — all without any physical contact with the resident. Sensors are installed at bedside and operate silently, requiring no interaction from the resident or on-site staff to function.
Unlike wearable-based alternatives, the contactless approach eliminates common failure points in overnight monitoring. Residents cannot accidentally remove or forget to charge a device. There are no straps, clips, or wristbands to cause skin irritation during extended wear. For memory care residents in particular, this passive approach ensures continuous monitoring coverage regardless of the resident's awareness or cooperation.
Automated Alerts for Night-Shift Staff
When the system detects an anomaly — an extended bed exit, abnormal breathing patterns, or prolonged restlessness — it generates an alert that is delivered directly to night-shift staff through the CCN Health platform. Alert routing is configurable by facility, floor, and individual resident, so that the right staff member receives each notification.
The system also generates nightly summary reports that are available to day-shift clinical staff by morning. These reports include total sleep duration, number of bed exits, breathing rate trends, and restlessness scores, giving clinicians a complete picture of what happened overnight without relying on subjective staff observations.
"Night shift is where senior living communities have the thinnest staffing and the highest risk," said Cosmo Cochrane, Co-Founder of CCN Health. "Contactless monitoring gives night-shift teams an extra layer of awareness that does not depend on scheduled rounds or resident call buttons."
Availability
Night monitoring is available now to CCN Health customers operating assisted living, memory care, and independent living communities. The system integrates with existing CCN Health RPM programs and supports Medicare billing under applicable remote monitoring codes.
